QLD Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Heavy Rain

For people in parts of Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, North West, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Channel Country, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett and Maranoa and Warrego Forecast Districts.

Active thunderstorms are continuing over the northwest and central parts of Queensland.

Weather Situation:

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, North West, Central West and Channel Country districts. Locations which may be affected include Winton, Charters Towers, Hughenden, Richmond, Boulia, Dajarra, Urandangi, Pentland and Stamford.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett and Maranoa and Warrego districts. Locations which may be affected include Roma, Charleville, Emerald, Biloela, Blackwater, Rolleston, Baralaba, Springsure and Carnarvon National Park.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
