QLD Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Large Hail, Damaging Winds

For people in parts of Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, North West, Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt Forecast Districts.

Weather Situation:
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones over the next several hours in parts of the Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts. Locations which may be affected include Biloela, Blackwater, Taroom, Monto, Baralaba and Mount Morgan.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders and North West districts.

Locations which may be affected include Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Julia Creek, Camooweal, Kamilaroi Station and Lawn Hill.
A 119km/h wind gust was recorded at Julia Creek Airport at 4.28pm.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
