Flooding is possible at some locations in the flood watch area from Saturday morning.
A number of low pressure systems are forecast to cross north and north east Tasmania from Friday night and into the weekend, bringing showers and the chance of storms.
In the 24 hours to 9 AM Friday, widespread rainfall totals of 20-50 mm were observed across the north and northeast with totals up to 118 mm observed in elevated areas near St Marys. No significant rainfall has been observed since 9 AM.
Further rainfall totals of 20 to 40 mm are forecast for Saturday and Sunday across north, northeast and northeastern coastal areas, with isolated totals of 60 mm possible. Storms are possible across the north on Saturday morning.
Minor flooding is possible at some locations from Saturday into Sunday, based on observed and forecast rainfall.
Localised flooding is possible in areas that receive heavy rainfall.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
East Coastal Rivers (north of Bicheno)
East Coastal Rivers (south of Bicheno)
Flood warnings are current for the following catchments: North Esk (minor flooding), South Esk (moderate flooding).
