Minor flooding may develop across North East Victoria from Saturday afternoon.

A cold front will enter western Victoria during Friday night before crossing the remainder of the state on Saturday. An associated complex low pressure system will approach southwest Victoria during Saturday, crossing over the state on Sunday.

River catchments are relatively wet across the North East of Victoria.

Rainfall totals of 20 to 40 mm are forecast for the North East on Saturday, with higher totals up to 60 mm possible across the ranges. Showers and storms to follow for Sunday with an additional 5 to 15 mm forecast.

With the forecast rainfall, river rises are expected and minor flooding may develop across the flood watch area from Saturday afternoon.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Upper Murray and Mitta Mitta Rivers

Kiewa River

Ovens and King Rivers

Seven and Castle Creeks

The Bureau of Meteorology is continuing to monitor the situation and will issue catchment specific warnings as required.
