Bushfire EMERGENCY WARNING for parts of MOOJEBING in the SHIRE OF KATANNING
A bushfire EMERGENCY WARNING has been issued for people in Moojebing Estate, including Hassell Road, Wake Road, Burt Road and Shenton Road, north of Hensman Road in parts of MOOJEBING in the SHIRE OF KATANNING.
You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes.
The alert level for this fire has been upgraded because the fire has escaped containment lines.
Properties north of Hensman Road in Moojebing will be under threat in 60 minutes.
The fire started near the intersection of Great Southern Highway and Throssell Road in the Shire of Woodanilling.
WHAT TO DO:
If the way is clear, leave now for a safer place.
Do not wait and see, leaving at the last minute is deadly.
Close all doors and windows and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible.
If you cannot leave, you need to get ready to shelter in your home.
Go to a room in your home away from the fire front and make sure you can easily escape.
Choose a room with two exits and water such as a kitchen or laundry.
If you are not at home, it’s too dangerous to return.
Bushfire WATCH AND ACT for northern parts of MARRACOONDA and parts of MOOJEBING in the SHIRE OF KATANNING
A bushfire WATCH AND ACT has been issued for people in an area bounded by Great Southern Highway, Hensman Road and Trimmer Road in the northern parts of MARRACOONDA and parts of MOOJEBING in the SHIRE OF KATANNING.
There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is burning in the area and the conditions are changing.
WHAT TO DO:
If you are not prepared or you plan to leave, leave now if the way is clear.
If you are well prepared and plan to actively defend your home, make final preparations now.
If you plan to stay and actively defend, do not rely on mains water pressure as it may be affected. You need to have access to an independent water supply, and start patrolling your property to put out spot fires.
At all times close all doors and windows and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible.
If you are not at home, do not try to return as conditions in the area could be very dangerous.
Bushfire ADVICE for parts of KATANNING, CARROLUP, WESTWOOD and MARRACOONDA in the SHIRE OF KATANNING and SHIRE OF WOODANILLING
A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people in an area bounded by Kojonup-Katanning Road, South Marracoonda Road, Onslow Road, Hensman Road, Great Southern Highway in parts of KATANNING, CARROLUP, WESTWOOD and MARRACOONDA in the SHIRE OF KATANNING and SHIRE OF WOODANILLING.
There is no threat to lives or homes.
There is a lot of smoke in the area.
Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.
WHAT TO DO:
Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
Close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible.
Read through your bushfire survival plan.
If you do not have a plan decide what you will do if the situation gets worse.
Be extremely careful when driving through the area.
Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.
Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.

It is out of control and unpredictable.
Please be mindful that there is potential for thunderstorms to pass over the area this afternoon which may increase fire activity
ROAD CLOSURES AND CONDITIONS:
Avoid the area and be aware of fire and emergency services personnel working on site.
A number of roads have been closed including:
Great Southern Highway between Robinson Road and Trimmer Road
Trimmer Road between Shenton Road and Great Southern Highway
Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.

WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:
Firefighters are actively fighting the fire.
150 farmer response Bush Firefighters, Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, State Emergency Service, Department of Biodiversity and Conservation and Attractions firefighters are attending.
The fire was reported at 11:24 AM on 7 February 2020.
Currently there has been approximately 2500 hectares burnt.
DFES is managing the fire.
