Thunderstorms over large areas of South Australia, possibly Severe in the north and east
Weather Situation: Thunderstorms over eastern areas of South Australia associated with a deepening low pressure system.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging wind gusts in excess of 90 km/h and large, possibly giant hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Renmark, Waikerie, Loxton, Leigh Creek, Moomba, Marree, Innamincka, Arkaroola, and Olary.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, West Coast, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Mid North, Upper South East and North West Pastoral districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.
At 10:33pm CDST Wednesday a wind gust of 98 km/h associated with a thunderstorm was reported at Leigh Creek.
Large hail was reported at Cummins earlier this morning.
Large to giant hail was also observed at multiple locations around Adelaide this morning.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Move cars under cover or away from trees.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.
