Flood Watch Number: 3

Minor flooding may develop in the flood watch catchments from Wednesday.

A series of frontal troughs is forecast to cross Tasmania through the remainder of this week and the weekend.

Most catchments are relatively wet to saturated from recent rain and rivers will be highly responsive to further rainfall.

Forecast rainfall totals for the remainder of Wednesday to Saturday evening: widespread 20 to 40 mm about the north and west, with falls of 60 to 90 mm possible in elevated areas.

Strong river rises are occurring in the flood watch catchments. River levels are expected to remain elevated during the week with renewed rises expected from forecast rain over the weekend.

A moderate flood warning is current for the North Esk River.

Minor flood warnings are current for the Meander River and South Esk River.

Additional catchment specific warnings will be issued if and when required.

Catchments likely to be affected include:
Macquarie River

Ringarooma River

North Coastal Rivers

Mersey River

Forth River

Northwest and Central Coastal Rivers

Arthur River

Derwent River

Flooding is no longer expected in the following catchments: Huon River.
